Cable production partners Setic, Pourtier and C2S will participate at wire Southeast Asia 2022. “After the move of 2021’s show, we want to remain committed and meet our Asian customers during next wire and Tube Southeast Asia show,” said a company spokesperson. “It will be a great and successful show for all our cable industry partners.” Setic produces machinery for special, data communication and LAN cables. Its range includes high-speed double twist bunch ers/stranders for the automotive industry and for power cables. Since the last wire show, the company has developed, designed, delivered and commissioned several pairing and assembling lines dedicated to LAN cables. Pourtier focuses on heavy-duty rotating machines (rigid and planetary stranders, single twist cablers and drum twisters) to produce all types of power cable: overhead, high voltage and extra-high voltage, and submarine cables. C2S takes care of all wire and cable production lines, whatever the brand of rotating equipment.

Cable assembly specialist turnover up 20 per cent

Myles has since been involved in the manufacture of prototype harnesses for some prestige automotive projects and has been part of an engineering team that introduced several new projects into the manufacturing cells. With the under standing and experience acquired during this time, and with the knowledge gained from the completion of his supervision training course, he will now move into a manufacturing cell supervision role. Last year, Convert designed and manufactured assemblies for many industries, including headlights for three luxury car manufacturers, one of which involved 3D printing tools to deliver 100 sets of harnesses per week; and a printing company that needed more than 170 different assemblies per machine, each with up to 40 wires. Dave Lord, Convert’s founder and managing director, said, “It’s been an eventful year and I am really pleased that we have managed to grow and invest despite the stop-start economy. Our new management structure and renewed focus on our culture, which is driving a nurturing environment for our staff to grow and develop in, is a solid foundation to continue building the company to ever greater heights.” Convert Ltd www.convertltd.co.uk

to ensure that the right work is being commissioned. For example, the Convert team recently reviewed a project for a prototype and discovered that the drawings would not deliver the right result. The company added value by checking, manufacturing and testing the piece before final production, and then worked with the customer to achieve the required outcome. Convert also invested in new machinery to deliver a particularly complex assembly for a printing company. The company has also increased its activities in creating a nurturing environment for its team to grow and develop. One employee to benefit from this supportive culture is Myles, who joined Convert in an apprenticeship role just before the pandemic started. Despite this setback, he has spent time in the production and engineering sections of the business, which has enabled him to gain product experience and a sound understanding of assembly methods and production techniques. Time spent within the engineering section helped broaden his knowledge and understanding of the technical aspects of cable harness assembly and good practice required to meet the high standards the company sets to ensure reliability and quality.

Convert, a UK manufacturer of cable looms and harnesses, has published its annual results and announced an increase in turnover of 20 per cent in the past year, and expects it to increase by 20 per cent again over the current year. The company has restructured to take account of this growth, and to plan for the future. The company states that quality control is particularly important, not only to ensure that quality products continue to leave the facility to customers, but also
