The world of metalworking

The halls of fieramilano Rho will host international technology for the sector, increasingly closely linked to the issue of interconnection, and capable of enabling high-value functions. The link between production technologies and IoT systems will appeal to operators in the manufacturing industry, representing all major user sectors: machine tools, automotive, aeronautics, aerospace, rail- way industry, metallurgic sector and materials. It is anticipated that more than 80 per cent of visitors will be those involved in purchasing decisions. Despite general uncertainty due to the pandemic, many companies have already confirmed their participation in the metalworking exhibition, representing countries and sectors that have always been among the key players at EMO. By February, 26 countries were already rep- resented among the exhibitors, including Italy, Germany, Taiwan, Spain, Japan, Switzerland, China and Korea. Luigi Galdabini, general commissioner of EMO Milano 2021, stated, “The expectations of the sector operators are

very high, as a testimony to the firm intention of the manufacturing world to return to normality. Indeed, a large number of applications to exhibit have already been received at the secretariat office and their collection goes on swiftly. “However, we expect that it will further intensify in the next weeks, thanks to the more and more widespread distribution of vaccines to the global population.” According to forecasts processed by Oxford Economics, after a 23.4 per cent fall registered in 2020, this year should bring about a recovery in machine tool consumption worldwide, expected to grow by 18.4 per cent to €61bn. The recovery of demand is likely to continue in 2022 and in 2023. The Italian government has set up fiscal incentives, consisting of tax credits of up to 50 per cent, for Italian companies investing in new machine tools, robots, automation systems, 4.0 and digital technologies in 2021 and 2022.
