Focus on the USA

Nano-die – hardest and smoothest type of die surface Nano-Diamond America Inc (NDA) is a supplier of nano-dies® to the wire and cable industries. Nano-die® is developed with proprietary technology and the nano-die product from Nano-Diamond America is a registered trademark. The nano-die operations experience from customer advice feeds directly back from around the world into the nano-die production processes and technical product understanding. In this way, Nano-die has been continuously improving its technology and production processes since inception. Nano-die is the hardest and smoothest type of industrialised die surface. These dies deliver measurable improvements in manufacturing e ciency and the best results for several applications. In comparison with other dies, nano-die users have consistently and conservatively reported Cu and Al savings of two to three per cent in their cable manufacture. Even PCDs wear with ovality, whereas nano-dies® do not – rather when they fail, they fail at near zero ovality. The company’s network of expertise extends from die manufacturing factories through wire, tube, cable manufacture right to the feedback their customers provide. NDA’s primary sales and technical support remains in its USA o ce supplemented by its global distributorship network. Nano-Diamond America is constantly growing its global footprint and improving product distribution and sales support processes. Its distributors and agents are located all over the world. The unique nano-die product itself continues to develop. Form factor of the nano-die products range up to Ø120mm for compacting and tube applications, down to wire drawing sizes. Applications for nano-die include cable compacting, stranding, wire and tube drawing, and rod breakdown for aluminium and alloys, copper, brass, low-carbon and stainless steel. Partner operations Sanxin Wire Die and Douglas Wire Die have also expanded their product lines. The full product line of mono dies, natural diamond dies and PCD represent the latest in manufacturing capability in the range of ne wire and ultra- ne wire. The right attitude at Beneke

product at reduced production costs. This “partnership” between the Beneke engineering sta and the customer is a key ingredient to the success of the entire operation. After 46 years of service, David Beneke passed away in 2018. Ken Downs continues as president.

Teamwork is the key ingredient in the “Beneke attitude” with everyone working for a common goal – the success of the customer – plus a shared pride in the quality of the end product. Over 51 years ago, Chuck Beneke had a vision. He believed there was a strong demand for high-quality, custom-prod- uced aluminium wire. Mr Beneke was certain customers would respond to the idea of aluminium wire manufactured to t their speci c requirements. He was right and in 1968 this wire pioneer joined with his son, J David Beneke, and founded Beneke Wire Company. started producing small orders of extremely high-quality aluminium wire. Great attention was paid to the alloy, the nish and the rigid tolerances. More importantly, the company worked to produce wire that would improve customers’ production processes. By creating the right treatment or nish, Beneke customers could possibly eliminate certain steps in their manufacturing, making a better end Beneke Wire Company Fenn has been a part of the metal forming industry since 1900 and has witnessed many trends over the years. While looking forward and focusing on long-term projects, companies want to eliminate any part of the process that proves ine cient – Fenn’s solution is integration. As well as o ering a complete line of standard equipment, Fenn can design and engineer custom machinery speci c to customers’ requirements. Standard o erings include swagers, turks heads, rolling mills, spring coilers, drawbenches and wire shaping lines. As a solution to in-house wire processing, it also provides an all-in-one solution to shaping and forming wire. All-in-one solution ▲

The Beneke plant

Michael and Steve Beneke continue as co-chairmen of the board of directors, assuring continuity within the company for years to come. Beneke continues to grow. With more than 200,000ft 2 of manufacturing space, the company provides aluminium wire to a worldwide market.

Fenn’s latest product o ering enables users to shape wire and coil springs while using a single line of machinery. The line integrates an FZ series single- point, six-axis Torin spring coiler with a Fenn 3U-HP power driven turks head. The complete line eliminates reliance on outside vendors for any part of the process and increases productivity by removing secondary operations. Torin single-point spring coilers, available in four, ve or six axes, are capable of handling wire diameter ranging from 0.076mm to 19mm. Torin’s FZ series includes simpli ed controls with Torin’s “Spring Shortcut” spring generator program to produce a variety of springs and wire forms. Fenn’s power driven turks head is a wire shaping method for customers using precious metals, because elimination of a capstan reduces material waste. The top and bottom con gurations allow for direct roll rive, which is better for constant tension on delicate, low-tensile product. Fenn LLC – USA Website : www.fenn-torin.com
