One of the first stockists to be BASEC registered

It is a safety net for those sourcing cable products and ensures the quality is maintained throughout the supply chain. Mr Vegad added: “To become registered involves an extremely rigorous audit above the ISO 9001: 2015 standard we already have in place. Maintaining our first-class standard of quality is incredibly important.” Cableworld Limited is an independent stockist and worldwide distributor of a wide range of electrical cables and accessories to relevant international standards. The results are not overly surprising as it is a technology-driven machinery manufacturer with delivery times around 12 months in the future. However, the board expressed its satisfaction with the success of the new commercial direction and sales organisation that tripled the backlog of purchase orders, and broadened the niche markets in the non-ferrous fields where the company is offering new advanced systems and machinery.

A UK-based company is celebrating after becoming one of the first cable distributors in the world to be accredited under a new scheme to raise quality in the industry. Cableworld Limited has been awarded Registered Stockist certification status from the prestigious British Approvals Service for Cables, recognised in the industry as BASEC. It means that customers of the company can be certain that all their products are of the highest quality and safety. Business development and quality manager Hinesh Vegad and his team are delighted that their hard work to meet the stringent assessment criteria required has paid off. “This is fantastic news for us – it is a huge achievement for a company of our size. Achieving this status demonstrates our commitment to quality,” he said.

The new industry certification scheme has been designed by BASEC to raise quality standards throughout the supply chain.

It looks at the practices and processes involved with procuring, handling and storing cable products, to ensure they are up to standard. Cable samples are taken for testing to verify that they meet the standards they are claimed to. Most importantly, it enables enhanced market surveillance of the product before it enters the market.
