Flexible and fast wire coiling

IN 1992, the Swedish company Lämneå Bruk invented a wire coiling machine – the No Twist Coiler (NTC). This flexible and adaptable machine enables fast and precise wire coiling at up to 40m/second. It is user-friendly with an up-to-date PLC control system. What makes this machine so flexible is that it can be used for a wide variety of different wire types ranging from welding, staple and fluxcore to spring wire. The machine is also suitable for drums of different shapes and sizes, depending on the individual customer needs. At this year’s wire Düsseldorf, Germany, andWire Expo in Nashville, USA, Lämneå Bruk presented one of its new bestsellers: the No Twist Coiler (NTC) for spring wire. This machine will set a high standard of bedding and seating wire coiling and offers an advanced solution for spring wire coiling. The NTC reverses the pre-twist, and the wire comes out twist-free and straight. The wire drum is placed directly on the floor with no rotation. The wire is then uncoiled over top and guided through a conduit into the wire coiling machine. Additionally, the machine offers the advantage that no further straighteners are needed in the process, saving space and resources since no power is needed for the payoff. Due to that and the fact that there is no driven payoff, there is a constant back tension in the wire. This has been beneficial in producing springs of consistent and even quality, while the wire consumption per spring can be reduced at the same time. There is also the possibility to weld the drums together to have a continuous payoff into the spring machine. The coiling speed is increased with this machine for more efficient and high-quality output.
