Recycled plastics resins for cable jackets Dow has launched a range of Revoloop™ recycled plastics resins that incorporate post-consumer recycled (PCR) material into cable jacketing to help address customers’ varying needs and circularity goals. This latest addition to the Revoloop resins portfolio prioritises performance similar to virgin plastic material for cable jackets while offering sustainability benefits. in line with Dow’s aim to “Transform the Waste” by commercialising 3mn metric tons of circular and renewable solutions annually by 2030.

reliability and the high importance we place on safety, helps support our customers’ approach to PCR across the globe.” By combining its industry knowledge, technology development and position as a one-stop supplier for the wire and cable industry, Dow says it is contributing to “a transformation in the processing and application of PCR ingredients – offering customers more global options to meet their goals.” Dow www.dow.com

“With the launch of Revoloop resins for the global wire and cable industry, we are expanding our sustainability portfolio while helping our power and telecommunications customers meet their own targets,” said Edit Berczi, global wire and cable marketing manager for Dow’s packaging and speciality plastics business. “This offering, along with our steadfast commitment to quality and

Easy to use touch-retract welding torch Amada Weld Tech’s Touch Retract welding torch (TR-T0016A) is a handheld and machine-mountable tool that TR-T0016A Touch Retract torch

The lightweight, ergonomic design allows operators to easily manipulate the tool, while its protruding electrode and 7mm nozzle enable easy weld location control. The narrow nozzle also allows for simple, repeatable weld location. Manufacturing capacity can be upscaled with an integrated collar for machine integration. The torch is able to weld stainless steel to stainless steel, or conductive materials such as copper to nickel or stainless steel. The variety of metals the torch can weld combined with its handheld nature makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, including tack welding for medical devices and battery tab welding. One of the major benefits of the TR-T0016A is its ability to allow battery makers to transition from nickel to cop per tabs, improving battery performance.

has been developed specifically for the welding of conductive thin-sheet metal. Suitable for the assembly of battery modules and packs, the torch is claimed to provide consistent welding performance in an easy-to-use format.

Though copper’s conductive nature makes it difficult to weld with resistance gap welding, the micro arc welding ena bled by the torch provides an efficient means of generating localised heat. Amada Weld Tech www.amadaweldtech.eu

Base-8 and Base-16 fibre optic cables

high speeds, Base-8 and Base-16 cables are smaller than the Base-12 alternatives, allowing more cables to fit in the same space. The smaller size also means they are less expensive to manufacture and take up less space in a data centre. The NanoCore Interconnect Micro Distribution cable offers 250µm fibre in a loose tube design, which allows more fibres to fit into a smaller diameter cable. In each cable, 100 per cent of the fibres are used for parallel optics applications in support of 40GbE, 100GbE, 400GbE, 800GbE and 1.6TbE. Proterial Cable America, Inc https://usa.proterial.com

Proterial Cable America (PCA) has launched NanoCore® Interconnect Micro Distribution cables. The Base-8 and Base 16 fibre optic cables are suitable for use in hyperscale data centres owing to their ability to efficiently carry large amounts of data at high speeds. “Base-8 and Base-16 cables are top-of the-line options for our customers,” said Joe Barry, chief operating officer of PCA New Hampshire. “This product is a great fit for hyperscale data centres, meaning our customers can expect more informa tion and speed while using less space.”
