Data recording allows later analysis and defect detector training. The system is easily introduced into the production line using a side opening in the housing. The compact design allows easy maintenance. As an in-line measurement specialist, Zumbach is committed to research and development activities. Fluon+ modified PEEK uses speciality fluoropolymers to improve its impact strength, wear resistance, flexibility and electrical insulating properties. Fluon+ modified PEEK retains mechanical properties at temperatures up to 200°C. It is suitable for wireline and cable insulations, to better withstand repetitive use in harsh environments. At IWCS, Mike Sanchez – technical service engineer for Fluon+ melt processable compounds – gave a

Zumbach’s SIMAC® 40/70/120 replaces its predecessor in the range of surface inspection systems. Using image processing, the SIMAC meets requirements for in-line surface inspection of most extruded products, including cables, tubes and hoses made from plastic, rubber and other materials. With the consistent implementation of machine vision and machine learning, the SIMAC is a compact, industrial-proof system. The measuring field is 40, 70 or 120mm, depending on the model, and the diameter range is 2 to 108mm. Defects as small as 0.1mm can be detected, and the maximum scan rate is 140,000 scans/s. The system provides continuous in-line inspection of all surfaces and colours, new-generation Fluon+™ and compounds are designed to improve wire and cable performance properties such as durability, flexibility and heat resistance in demanding applications. Chemicals recently featured these materials at the 2023 IWCS Supplier Exhibition in Orlando, Florida, USA. The materials use advanced fillers, pigment systems and additives to enhance the performance of AGC’s Fluon fluoropolymer resins. The materials add performance characteristics such as toughness, lubricity, thermal and electrical conductivity, and resistance to creep, wear and chemicals.
