ISO 14001 certification for sustainability commitment

The company states that it has an influence on the installed base currently producing in wire, cable, pipe and tube factories worldwide, and that it provides results to customers facing issues such as OEE, scrap reduction, material overuse and utility consumption (water, energy and air). Maillefer’s centre for its pipe and tube business in Ecublens, Switzerland, has achieved certification according to the ISO 14001:2015 standard. Certification for the company’s wire and cable operation in Vantaa, Finland, is expected to follow shortly. Tenova, a developer and provider of sustainable solutions for the green transition of the metals industry, has been contracted through its subsidiary Tenova Inc for the turnkey supply of an STC® (short time cycle) roller-hearth furnace at Grand Blanc Processing’s wire processing facility located in Holly, Michigan, USA. The project will mark the third STC furnace installation for the facility, and the new furnace will be seamlessly integrated with the existing furnaces in operation. Furnace start-up is expected to take place at the end of 2022. The 26-metric-ton batch STC furnace will be used to spheroidise anneal and stress relieve Grand Blanc Processing’s wire products. It will include Daido Steel’s advanced nitrogen control technology, which will reduce nitrogen consumption by up to 30 per cent per cycle and reduce fuel consumption by 2 per cent per cycle. Tenova Inc will also design and supply three product cooling tables as well as the complete control and automation package.
