allowing a fast and effective solution to problems related to wire, cable, strand and bolts and nuts. While shears for wire and cable are Tramev’s most successful product, the company has also developed – with customers and suppliers – other equipment to resolve common problems that are created along the wire and cable production chain. Some solutions, such as the gripper for handling of coils and bobbins, allow savings in terms of time; others, like the strapping rubber tube involved in the final stage of the manufacturing process, help to prevent damage to the finished product. Equipment to be presented at wire 2022 will include new battery and portable shears, provided with 360° rotating head, for both wire and cable; a new wire butt welding machine for diameters up to Ø32mm, and the new TRS-3V vertical welding machine; clamps for coils and bobbins lifting up to 4 T; and unwinders and tilting machines for wire rod. 11 G13 UL, a global safety science specialist, is helping companies to maintain post Brexit market access with Construction Products Regulation (CPR) related safety testing and certification services for the CE Mark in the European Union and the UKCA Mark for the United Kingdom. The UKCA mark has been introduced for products in England, Scotland and Wales in place of the European CE mark, and will be mandatory for regulated products from 1 January 2023. For manufacturers looking to place products in both British and European markets, certification must be completed by both an EU Notified Body (NB) and a technical assessment body for the CE Mark, and by a UK Market Conformity Assessment Body (UKMCAB) for the UKCA Mark. Through a combined safety testing and certification process, UL can now provide comprehensive services for a wide variety of power, control and communication cables for permanent installation in buildings. Available services include testing and certification to the requirements of the CE Mark for CPR products for the European market; UKCA Mark for CPR products for England, Scotland and Wales; UL safety testing and certification for North America; and various types of performance testing services for cables and cable assemblies based on national, international and industry specifications. “Our science-driven testing and certifica tion can help cable manufacturers assess compliance with the Construction Prod ucts Regulation for EU’s CE Mark and the UK’s UKCA Mark, which will help them demonstrate their dedication to safety while achieving market access through out Europe,” said Morten Lassen, UL’s regional vice president of Europe. “Manu facturers can save time and money by integrating testing and certification to global requirements under UL’s compre hensive service solution for both the EU and the UK.” Products can be certified under the Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP) System 1+ at UL International BV for CE marking and at UL International (UK) Ltd for UKCA marking.
