The final coils are intended for the “do it-yourself” market, and are sold to large stores and shopping centres, where the quality of stratification and the final shape are essential features. For obtaining enhanced final presentation, the coils are tied up then conveyed to the oven unit, and wrapped using thermo-shrinking film in polypropylene (PP). At the exit of the oven, a label is printed and applied to the product.

PWM’s range also includes lightweight handheld manual machines for fine wire from 0.1 to 1.2mm (0.0039" to 0.047"), and manual and powered models for wire from 0.3 to 6.5mm (0.0118" to 0.256") that can be used on a workbench or supplied with a trolley. The company’s products are designed and made in-house and tested to ensure accuracy. PWM manufactures industry standard cold welding dies and can also produce custom-made dies for specific applications. PWM Ltd www.pwmltd.co.uk QED Wire Lines Inc 12 A50 QED specialises in equipment for in-line heat-treating, cleaning and coating of steel wire. Its furnaces are custombuilt for multi-strand annealing, stress relieving, patenting and tempering processes. With patented flow technology, the fluid systems integrate cleaning efficiency with high wire speeds. QED’s rugged liquid metal furnaces apply heavy and commercial coatings of zinc, aluminium and Galfan ® . QED is supplying new process lines with remote monitoring and control of the equipment’s key functions. Networked control panels are enhanced with soft ware and hardware for communicating directly with the internal network. Sie mens-based PLCs work in unison with an Ixon router for seamless LAN integration. The equipment package includes a cloud-based command centre that offers solutions that include live production dashboards, real-time messaging alerts and access to equipment. The Ixon Cloud 2 provides fast PLC access over a secure network. Options include cloud data logging and alarm notifications to mobile devices. The remote access capability allows troubleshooting from anywhere in the world. The software includes status screens that indicate all inputs and out puts, to simplify maintenance and op erations. All temperatures and pressures are graphed for easy visualisation of the process trends. Alarms are logged along with the time and date of the incident. This data is critical for product quality as surance and standards compliance such as ISO 9001. QED AutoCoat TM , an upgrade to existing high-speed zinc and Galfan process lines, uses independent measurement and fine-tune control to achieve consistent

10 F59 Pourtier produces heavy-duty rotating machines – rigid and planetary stranders, single twist cablers and drum twisters – to produce all types of power cables, including overhead, low-, medium-, high- and extra-high-voltage cables, and submarine cables. The company offers a complete range of heavy-duty stranders, cablers, screening and armouring lines for ferrous and non ferrous cables. Its high-efficiency multi-wire concentric stranding line is used for low- and medium-power cable production. Pourtier states that all of its machines are made to high standards in design and manufacturing for the production of all types of high-voltage and extra-high voltage power cable, from overhead cable (including ACCC™ , ACSS-TW and ACSR-TW) to insulated AC type cable (using Milliken conductor) or DC type (using large, round compacted conductor or trapezoidal wires).

PS Costruzioni’s PS 250/12 automatic coiling line

The line can handle 2 to 12mm insulated cables, to produce coils with an outer diameter of 90 to 250mm, inner core of 70 to 130mm, and height of 30 to 130mm. PS Costruzioni Meccaniche Srl www.pscm.it PWM Ltd 09 B41 British company PWM (Pressure Welding Machines) Ltd will exhibit its full range of high-performance cold welders, including the EP500 rod welder. Visitors will also be able to see demonstrations of PWM’s P1500 machine, capable of welding material up to 30mm (1.181"). PWM reports that sales of the pneumatically powered EP500 more than doubled during 2021. The rod welder can be connected to a central air supply or a dedicated compressor and only needs electrical power for its operating system, making it popular with manufacturers looking for energy-efficient equipment to support green production initiatives. No set up is required and the EP500, for rod from 5 to 15mm (0.197" to 0.59"), is low maintenance, user friendly and safe. The larger P1500 machine is also energy efficient: it is driven by three hydraulic pumps and only requires electrical power for the 11kW pump motor.

Pourtier high-speed tangential taping head

Pourtier will exhibit on the Setic stand, to show its high-speed tangential taping head; taping/armouring machines (tangential, oblique, concentric and longitudinal); and applicators for various taping processes. Pourtier www.setic-pourtier.com PS Costruzioni Meccaniche Srl 10 B21 PS Costruzioni Meccaniche has designed a fast automatic line for producing small coils lengths (5 to 50m) that is also capable of winding cables onto coils of 100m in length, depending on the diameter of the cable. The PS 250/12 line can work with a Defilé unwinding system (flyer payoff) or a motorised payoff stand (Deroulé system), or with both unwinding systems.
