Springing into exhibitions As we head towards spring, the exhibition season gets well and truly underway with the 7 th edition of Global Industrie first on the calendar, from 11 to 14 March in Lyon, France. The event is billed as the ‘annual marker for the industry’s achievements, progress, vision and future prospects’, bringing people together to present their innovations, exchange ideas and catch up on industrial trends, with nearly 50,000 professionals expected to attend. Read more on this by turning to page 17. You can also collect your copy of EuroWire from the Media Stand. This will be closely followed by the staging of wire Eurasia in Istanbul, Turkey, from 9 to 12 April. More than 350 exhibitors from 20 different countries are expected, along with 15,000 visitors from 75 countries at the Tüyap Istanbul Fair and Congress Center. Continuing our regular popular feature, we turn our attention to Italian companies within the wire and cable industries who are forging ahead with new technologies, ideas, plans and innovations with our Italy Showcase feature, starting on page 49. Also new for this year is our feature on associations from within the industry worldwide. In this issue, we look at the Swiss Competence Cluster (SCC), a recently formed association but bringing together some notable achievements from already well-established businesses. Whether it is cable manufacturing, metrology or tooling, SCC has, through its members, the expertise to tackle most of their challenges. Tubulars in Austria successfully commissioning a profile rolling mill, engineered by Friedrich Kocks.
