Rolling mill supplied for production of hollow sections voestalpine Tubulars in Austria has successfully commissioned a profile rolling mill engineered by Friedrich Kocks GmbH & Co KG. Following the completion of all work and commissioning, the new equipment is now fully integrated into the hot tube rolling mill at the Kindberg site in Styria. The award of the contract was preceded by intensive technological discussion of the design and construction of a solution for rolling seamless hollow sections. The centrepiece of the profile rolling mill, named PWW 530/4, consists of four consecutive 530mm stands, each equipped with two horizontal and vertical rolls facing each other. The rolls are individually driven. Based on Kocks’s three-roll stand design, they feature calibre adjustment and allow for fast roll changes, providing flexibility in production planning. The scope of supply also included the corresponding equipment for the roll shop. voestalpine Tubulars is now capable of producing seamless, hot-rolled square and rectangular hollow sections up to large formats and wall thicknesses.
