IWMA announces new president The IWMA has announced the appoint ment of Bernd Lohmüller, managing director of Maschinenfabrik Niehoff, to the revived role of IWMA president. Mr Neville will continue as chairman until February 2025, with Mr Lohmüller – currently a member of IWMA’s executive management committee – taking on the formal role of president.

The scope of the contracts includes three annealing and coating lines (ACL) and one annealing and pickling line (APL) for silicon steel, which will be installed at the Wuhan Iron & Steel Co, Ltd (WISCO) plant in Wuhan. The four annealing furnace lines will be supplied by Tenova LOI Thermprocess and Tenova Technologies (Tianjin). The contracts are part of WISCO’s ambitious new greenfield project for electrical steel that aims to obtain high surface qualities and magnetic properties for the production of non grain oriented electrical steel. For several years the IWMA has had one person acting both as chairman and nominal president – currently American born Don Neville, managing director of RichardsApex Europe Ltd. IWMA’s executive management committee has agreed to take the roles back to their origin as separate entities, with a chairman running day-to-day operations and a president acting as a figurehead and advising on strategic matters.

Mr Lohmüller has been managing director of Niehoff for seven years, graduating from chief sales officer and various roles going back to the late 1980s, when he first joined the company at its headquarters in Schwabach, Germany. He was also MD of subsidiary company Niehoff Endex North America from 2000 to 2004. Though a long-term member of management, he started
