selective production targets that require sophisticated solutions and technical knowledge. WTM has developed solutions suited to these specific applications and exploited them to produce taping machines capable of processing small-sized cables with very sensitive tapes, with high level production quality and process efficiency. The company will show a complete line for the insulation of small cables using PTFE tapes, equipped with solutions aimed at improving the process and optimising production efficiency and reliability. The key features include a compact and versatile payoff, completed by dancer control, that ensures minimum tension values; a taping unit equipped with a fully motorised taping head that includes a dynamic dancer capable of ensuring constant tension on the tape, regardless of process variables; a pulling capstan with a backlash-free motor-gear that ensures control of the line speed, fully synchronised with the rotation of the taping head for the maximum precision of the taping pitch and angle; and a traversing take-up with torque tension control, able to reduce the stress on the finished cable during final collection. Also featured are devices for process control and analysis through the line, such as laser gauges and camera systems to control the diameter of the final product, the pitch and the taping angle during the head rotation.

The Wet Coating Machine (WCM) for in-line coating of cold-rolled steel wire (rebar) runs at speeds of up to 10m/sec. It eliminates dust during production, directly improving working conditions for personnel. This new method for coating steel rebar will be on show on stand 11 D74.

CAPAC HS unit

The processing unit CAPAC HS, com patible with the array of capacitance measuring tubes up to 68mm diam eter, includes a large range of features as standard, plus extensive IO capa bilities to suit customer requirements, including: • 0-1,800 pf/m (0-600 pf/ft) measuring range • PoE (Power over Ethernet) webserver display connectivity • Pinhole/fault detection for fast error detection • High frequency analogue output for FFT/SRL analysis allowing up to 6.5 GHz testing • Multiplexed FFT signal over Zumbach USYS interface for high FFT/SRL performance • Integrated Ethernet TCP/IP service interface • Integrated host interface solutions: Ethernet/IP, Profinet IO, Profibus DP, Ethernet TCP/IP, serial RS (optional) • Multiple digital relay outputs • Precision encoder interface for length and speed input • Digital inputs for statistics control In combination with Zumbach’s USYS processor and display solutions, the CAPAC HS series is able to control the capacitance levels of the product. When combined with additional meas uring equipment, such as ODAC® laser diameter and ovality gauges, ultrasonic wall thickness and concentricity meas uring systems, and KW lump and neck down detectors, an insight into the cable production process is achievable. WBE-4L brush machine

WiTechs offers all types of mechanical descaling to best fit customers’ processes, from low to high quality cleaning of wire rod. The company has developed the new WBE-4L brushing machine for applications where simple steel-wool descaling is not enough, or for when an operator wants to improve quality but a belt-sander machine does not fit into the production process. The service life of the WBE-4L’s brushes is up to 2,500 tons. The compact machine will fit in most production lines, and is fully autonomous, reducing the risk of human error to a minimum. The machine indicates when the brush needs to be replaced, ensuring consistent cleaning. WiTechs BV www.witechs.com 11 D78 WTM will show its PTFE taping lines for small cables, suitable for aeronautical, data and medical applications. Technological evolution in the cable industry pushes manufacturers to create increasingly thin cables with high performance insulation. Sectors such as aeronautical, high speed data cables and medical impose WTM Srl

The data is logged by those devices, along with other production parameters (cable tension, tape tension, rotation and line speed), and is processed on line and off-line to obtain the analysis of statistical indices (Cpk, standard deviation) and the frequency trend (FFT analysis), using dedicated WTM software.
