12 D71/72 For decades, Suzuki Garphyttan has been a specialist in the market for spring wire products. The wire is used across a wide range of applications. The company now aims to expand the business to a broader range of customer segments. Product development in 2023 was intensive for Suzuki Garphyttan. Several new product offerings are ready to be presented to customers in 2024. Suzuki Garphyttan president and CEO Ad Raatgeep stated that the group’s position as a supplier to the automotive industry is strong, but that new product segments are increasingly gaining a foothold in the market. David Thureborn, programme manager automotive, commented on the work behind one new product – cold-drawn spring wire: “Our strategy to grow, coupled with reducing dependency on components for combustion engines, led us to cold-drawn spring wire that is produced in a process that ensures high tensile strength and toughness.” Cold drawn wire can be used for a wide range of applications, such as damper springs and various technical springs. It is made from unalloyed carbon steel with a carbon content between 0.5 and 0.8 per cent. made advancements in spheroidised wire, with the textile industry as the largest customer segment. At wire 2024, welding machines for different applications will be on display: electric butt-welding machines for steel, copper, aluminium and brass, for solid wires or stranded wires and conductor cables. There will also be fully hydraulic butt welders with automatic de-burring, and pneumatic welding machines for bulk wire products, as well as cold welding machines for non-ferrous wires. The continuous optimisation of welding machines will also be addressed, with the user-friendly version of electric strand butt-welding machine type SE1, which features a handle for easy movement, cable holder, optional cover of the mimic to protect the mechanics and a large collecting tray for smashed ceramics. Customers will be able to experience welding directly on the stand, and discuss individual requirements for tailor-made machine constructions with the experts on-site.
