At wire 2020, Sikora will present a broad portfolio of future-oriented measuring and control systems for e cient and sustainable quality control for the wire and cable, optical bre and plastics industries. “Quality and sustainability are core elements of our business strategy and decisive for the business success of our customers,” explained Harry Prunk, member of the executive board of Sikora AG. “For almost ve decades, our measuring systems have contributed to quality control and a simultaneous reduction of plastic material during cable production. This saves costs and automatically preserves resources.” At wire, visitors will be able to nd out more about the performance of the measuring devices during extensive product demonstrations. One highlight will be the X-ray measuring system X-Ray 6000 Pro, which is used for the measurement of wall thickness, eccentricity, diameter and ovality of cables with up to three di erent material layers, for example in insulating and jacketing lines. The combination of the X-Ray 6000 Pro with the processor system Ecocontrol 6000 allows automatic control of the wall thickness. Water-blocking tape from Scapa

Scapa’s plant in Renfrew, Canada, has produced and delivered more than 6,000,000 km of water-blocking cable tapes in the last 15 years. As well as focusing on these water-blocking tapes, the company will be exhibiting its range of protection tapes for subsea power cables, as well as re-retardant tapes, self-amalgamating tapes, resins, putties and impregnated paper components. Scapa UK Ltd www.scapa.com Schlatter is moving mesh production to a new level, with an annual production of 80,000 to 100,000 tons being possible by using only two mesh welding machines, despite the multiple variants of mesh types with many di erent wire diameters. This is done by using the optimised high-e ciency MG316 mesh welding machine and the newly developed, highly exible MG800 mesh welding machine. This combination allows exible production development and low processing costs. Schlatter states that conventional mesh production will be revolutionised by this new concept. The production quantities of three or even four machines can now be realised with only two mesh welding machines. The reduction of changeover and reel exchange times increases the e ective production time of the machinery.
