PWM introduces new cold welder for strip and tape UK company PWM, a manufacturer of cold They offer the enhanced characteristics as well as an excellent range of standard properties normally expected with Megolon compounds. Mexichem Specialty Compounds – USA Website : www.mexichem.com Compounds launch A NEW family of stress crack resistance compounds has been launched by the inventors of halogen-free compound technology Megolon®. Halogen-free compounds continue to be used in more challenging conditions in many markets. This new series of compounds has been developed by Mexichem Specialty Compounds, formerly AlphaGary, to accommodate the use of power or energy cables in areas of the world where climatic conditions are severe and above the norm, such as the Middle and Far East, but can be used anywhere these properties would benefit the finished cable. The company has the analysis techniques to determine if cable is cracked due to the extrusion process or from the nature of the compound. Through that expertise, Mexichem determined that more robust products for some difficult applications were needed in the market. This led to the development of a series of compounds with higher tear strength at elevated temperatures as well as a better resistance to environmental stress cracking compared to standard Megolon grades. Megolon® S382, S384, S386 and S387 are the first of a new generation of HFFR compounds designed to meet these challenging applications.

pressure welding machines and dies, is introducing a new cold welder specifically for strip and tape. The ST40 air/hydraulic cold welder can be used to join non-ferrous strip and tape up to a maximum width of 45mm (1.772") and a maximum cross sectional area of 33mm² (0.0514 square inches). and manufactured by PWM’s in-house team, produces a reliable weld stronger than the parent material The die, precision-engineered designed

without loss of electrical integrity. Mounted on a trolley for convenience and ease of use, the ST40 is powered by an air/ hydraulic intensifier and is easily activated by a foot pedal.

PWM will launch the ST40 cold welder at wire 2016.
