The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has appointed Jeremy Hadall as the new design and production sector chairman. A member of the IET since 1992, Mr Hadall, CEng FIET, became a fellow last year. He is currently chief technologist (automation, tooling, fixturing and electronics) at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, chair of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult Automation Capability Forum, and a member of the British Automation and Robotics Association Council. Having worked as both an applications engineer for ABB Robotics and a senior systems engineer for Vanderlande Industries, his career in automation for manufacturing began when he left university. Joining the Manufacturing Technology Centre when it opened in 2010, he was responsible for the conception and development of the intelligent automation research theme.
