In this position, the operator is able to verify and evaluate the detected failure on the product. In case of a misjudgement of the detected failure from the operator, the failure will be detected and replaced again. For an accurate laying quality, the traversing take-up is equipped with a servomotor. The installed recipe database allows a simple and quick handling for the operator. The recipe database allows an automatic setup of the machine from an external computer. An additional advantage is a reduction of operator errors. For automotive industry Lami l is researching the possibilities of new alloys in aluminium, such as 6082 and 6056. It is in the process of testing these new alloys to explore further possible applications. The company has recently expanded its range in the 5000 series (AlMg), with alloys up to ve per cent Mg. This completes the wide range of 1000, 3000 and 6000 series. Next to wire rod and drawn wire, surface treated wire is one of the company’s products. For certain applications the surface nish of the wire is a critical parameter that results in an exceptional surface quality. The surface treated wire is also suitable to be drawn to ne end diameters, thanks to its processability. In the packaging of these wires progress has been made, such as Octabins, resulting in a cost-e ective alternative that is produced under better working properties.
