High-speed rotating machines

SETIC sas designs and manufactures high-speed rotating machines for the cable industry. Its brands include SETIC special, data communication and LAN cable machines and automotive wire equipment; and Pourtier heavy-duty rotating machines to produce all types of power cables – overhead, submarine, high voltage and extra-high voltage. Setic’s model TC 2000-4M, a 2,000mm double-twist, is suited to cable makers stranding large bare conductors from 7 to 61 wires, in copper or aluminium, with round or straight sectors. It can produce 61 wires unilay (compressed and compacted) up to 400mm 2 (750 MCM) in copper, and 500mm 2 (1,000 MCM) in aluminium. The line can also strand class 5/6 flexible conductors up to 240mm 2 (500 MCM), and can lay-up insulated conductors up 30mm (1.1811") cable diameter. The drum twister designed by Pourtier integrates all parameters to fit with the

strict production requirements of high voltage and extra-high voltage power cable (Milliken) for the laying-up of copper or aluminium conductors. The drum twisters are designed for round or sector-shaped (straight or pre-spiralled) five-plus cores, and for HV Milliken cables – segmental or sectoral pre-spiralled copper (five, six or seven cores). Pourtier supplies drum twisters up to 5,000mm. Pourtier’s RFS heavy-duty rigid strander line (630mm or 800mm reel – 24.8" to 31.5") is designed for stranding up to 127 wires, for steel wire armouring and copper wire screening. These types of lines strand bare copper, copper alloy, aluminium, and aluminium alloy conductors. SETIC and Pourtier also provide high speed dual-single twist lines, with one single twist used as payoff and another used as take-up for different sizes of bobbins, such as 1,000mm (39.37"), 1,250mm (49.21") and 1,600mm (62.99"). This provides three solutions in one Leibinger, an expert in coding and marking systems, has introduced what it describes as “the world’s first intelligent coding and marking system”. IQJET, launched in May at the interpack trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany, is suited to the direct coding and marking of products and packaging. It can be used in the food and consumer goods sectors (FMCG), as well as for applications in the industrial sector. It promises “plug and print” performance and consistently high print quality, without the need for cleaning. Requiring no scheduled maintenance for a full five years, the IQJET was designed to give manufacturers a better experi- ence when working with continuous ink jet. “With the IQJET, we can now give our customers even more confidence – and serenity – that everything is working as it should 24/7 when they’re marking products,” said CEO Christina Leibinger.

line: full back-twist laying up-line, and two separate laying-up lines (with the possibility to make cable in multi-passes using a central back-twist pay-off). The Setic all-in-one VTT560F offers a double- or triple-twist process with integrated back-twist effect. VTT560Fs are fully operational in North America in customers’ R&D laboratories. The IQJET is equipped with four assistance systems. The Smart.OS operating system features a 10" touch display. Numerous interfaces, including OPC UA and an integrated PLC, ensure easy integration into the production line. Operation is intuitive and can be mastered without any prior knowledge. The manufacturer states that the IQPRINT technology ensures 100 per cent reliable printing performance with consistent print quality. When not in use, the entire ink circuit, including the print nozzle, is sealed airtight and the ink continues to circulate. Regular maintenance and print head cleaning routines are eliminated. The Smart.Efficiency assistance system autonomously ensures that the IQJET’s operating costs are kept to a minimum. It offers a low consumption of ~2.7cc/h for MEK inks. Ink cartridges are fully emptied and do not require separate disposal. Paul Leibinger GmbH & Co KG www.leibinger-group.com
