EIGHT-TON TAKE-APART REEL

-- BOXY MADE --

Take-apart reel that makes 8-ton coils on a vertical spooler to produce concrete reinforcing steel.

This 1850mm reel lifts automatically the coil / final product: its internal mechanism is such that once the winding process is finished and the top flange is lifted its barrel expands and takes hold of the coil to transfer it where necessary.

It is also provided with:

– an adaptor to make coils of different widths;

– wire clamps to tie the beginning and the final end of the coil (pictures A and B) – these are interfaced with the automatic spooler.

Boxy SpA is an Italian company providing a comprehensive range of metal spools and drums for the wire and cable industry as well as a full range of special equipment for reel / coil handling, such as electromechanical tilting units, coil lifters, take-apart spools of any kind and size, reel lifters both horizontal and vertical and much more.

New test line for HV and EHV cable production installed

Continuous production enables efficient production flow, and this enhancement increases the productivity level. The line is able to sheathe HV and EHV cables with a welding tube diameter of up to 200mm. The production of such a cable is demanding, since the cable is both large and heavy, and also has to meet certain requirements, such as a high resistance to lateral pressure, which is achieved by corrugation. Copper, aluminium and stainless steel tapes are used for the metal sheath. Rosendahl states that the line will be of interest to cable manufacturers who produce high- or extra-high- voltage cables and wish to obtain the key processes (forming, welding and extrusion) from one source, which contributes to all of the line processes being coordinated and optimised. The test line does not include the final extrusion process due to space limitations at the Technology Center.

recognising the importance of inte- grating the best available technological solution into the RH-W line. This test line is the first to use their combined expertise. The term ‘non-stop’ refers to the welding process: the welding electrodes alternate, if necessary, so while one is welding, the other can be exchanged or maintained. ▼ ▼ Rosendahl’s RH-Wmetal tape forming and welding test line is ready for visitors

RH-W is Rosendahl’s metal-forming and welding line for high-voltage and extra-high-voltage cables (HV/EHV). Improvements have been undertaken regarding the welding unit and system parameters over recent months. At a total length of 42m, the RH-W test line can now be viewed at the company’s Technology Center in Pischelsdorf, Austria. The line is ready for training, for further development and for customer visits. As business travel is currently restricted due to the coronavirus epidemic, the line will remain installed until at least the end of 2020. The RH-W metal tape-forming and welding line includes a non-stop inline process for forming and welding an HV/ EHV cable with a corrugated or smooth profile, including the monitoring of all system parameters. Rosendahl recently bought assets from Weber & Scher, a leading company in the field of metal-tape forming and welding,
