Contact-free temperature measurement

Lune CHF GmbH is a Germany-based manufacturer of contact-free temperature gauges for in-line measurement and process control, and serves all global markets. Utilising the CHF method (convective heat-flow), the Lune temperature measurement and control systems work without optics or infrared technology. They are independent from influencing variables such as material emissivity or surface glossiness. According to the company, CHF has become the method of choice for temperature determination in the wire and cable industry. The Lune portfolio includes solutions for conductors, cable, wire and fibre of any material and any diameter. The temperature gauges are also established in the metals industry, in production processes where the temperature of blank metal needs to be accurately determined without contact, such as in tube and pipe production, aluminium and steel rolling mills, and sheet metal finishing lines. Lune recently introduced the Easy-Wiretemp – a compact, contact-free system to accurately measure the temperature of conductors, cable, wire, fibre and other elements in a production line. this product at wire 2020 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The Easy-Wiretemp is Lune’s first integrated system – the sensor head and controller electronics are contained in one box. Despite the compact design, Lune has incorporated its CHF method to accurately determine the temperature of conductors, cable and wire. As the CHF method removes the need for optics and infra-red technology, the operator does not need to worry about the material’s surface: whether copper, aluminium, steel, other metals, compounds, plastics or PTFE, or any other material, there are no adjustments or special settings required to measure the temperature in-line and contact-free.
