Monitoring wall thickness during energy cable production
Quality and performance requirements for new energy cables are high. All parameters, such as diameter, wall thickness and eccentricity, must comply with specifications. Several measuring techniques for quality control are available, but Sikora says that its X-ray technology is a leading method for measuring new energy cable. “With the X-Ray 6000 Pro we can use the full potential for process optimisation and to deliver the highest product quality to our customers,” said Haihua Min, general manager at Huacheng Cable. Directly integrated in the extrusion line, the system allows constant monitoring of the wall thickness of up to three material layers, using the minimum tolerance value. Safety margins can be reduced, and the automatic control keeps the dimensions within the specification. At the centre of Conductix-Wampfler’s showcase will be the Rollertwist cabling machine, designed to offer speed, precision and versatility. Claimed to be one of the fastest LAN cable machines in the world, the Rollertwist reaches flyer speeds of 750 rpm (equivalent to 1,500 twists per minute) and achieves a linear production speed of 200m/min. The machine tackles the challenges of single- and double twisting processes while ensuring the structural integrity of the cables, making it a reliable solution for modern production lines. Beyond LAN cables, the Rollertwist is equipped to handle low voltage control cables and new energy vehicle cables. Its stable stranding process can produce control cables with up to 18 cores. Conductix-Wampfler states that its presence at wire Mexico underscores its dedication to providing innovative solutions that meet the evolving demands of the cable industry. By focusing on high-speed production and versatility while maintaining quality and efficiency, the company aims to foster sustainable growth in the industry. Conductix Wampfler Booth: G-302
Wuxi Huacheng Cable Co, based in Jiangyin City, China, manufactures special high-temperature-resistant cables, using Sikora’s X-Ray 6000 Pro to ensure optimal processes and product quality. Since 2018, Huacheng Cable has used seven sets of Sikora X-ray technology for quality control in seven new energy cable extrusion production lines.
