Niehoff to expand German manufacturing facilities
100 per cent of the electricity in both the Schwabach and the Leuterschach factories has been generated from CO 2 free hydropower. With more than 70 years of experience in the manufacture of machinery for the production of non-ferrous wires and their processing into automotive, power, data and special cables, Niehoff attaches importance to the long-term durability of its products. Its machines are designed for reliability, process stability, high productivity, reduced CO 2 emissions, and energy and material efficiency. Niehoff is certified by the German Envi ronmental Auditors Board EMAS; belongs to the Blue Competence sustainabil ity initiative of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA); and cooperates with the EcoVadis international platform for sustainability ratings. The factory in Schwabach will be expanded by a manufacturing hall and a logistics hall, which are scheduled to go into operation in August 2025. As with the existing halls of the factory, opened in 2015, the two new buildings will have a photovoltaic system on the roof and will use geothermal energy for heating and cooling technology. At Leuterschach, Niehoff has acquired a further 3,500m² of factory premises and will build another hall and outdoor facilities there, expanding the production area by 1,700m 2 for storage, assembly and testing. The new hall will also be equipped with a photovoltaic system and will use geothermal energy. The infrastructure projects represent an investment of €15.5mn, made possible by the owners of the family business putting most of the profits back into the company. Since the beginning of 2021,
