New in-line induction wire preheater range Zumbach has released all-new in-line inductive wire preheaters. The new range complements the existing solutions the company supplies to the wire and cable industry. An optional interface for

the connection of an additional external temperature measuring system is provided. When the sensor is placed at the entrance to the extruder, accurate wire temperature measurements are obtained, offering a tight feedback loop to compensate for any heat losses. A rugged and compact Visu-Touch operator touchscreen with power over Ethernet can be positioned at the required location. The AUTAC 300 system is used for temperature measurement and control

An essential stage in many extrusion lines, the Preheater WST family ensures preheating of the conductor, optimising the subsequent extrusion process and improving the adhesion of the cable insulation to the conductor. Repeatable and uniform conductor temperatures help shorten start-up times and reduce scrap. Based on new intelligent induction control hardware, the Preheater WST’s heating power ensures consistent and linear heating of the conductor temperatures, enhancing productivity and product quality. With up to 20 configurable material types stored in the device’s memory, set-up and changeover times are minimised, increasing machine uptime. Available in three different power levels, the Preheater WST is suitable for conductor diameters ranging from 0.32 to 3.8mm, for compatibility with a wide range of cable types and future production needs. When combined with a USYS processor, full line control can be achieved for lights-out production. Sensors measure the ambient temperature to accurately calculate the power needed to heat the wire to the desired preheat temperature. Of the 20 storable recipes, three are pre configured to meet the most typical applications, and 17 are user-configurable, enabling custom materials with specific compositions and heating requirements to be defined.

for applications with conductor preheaters or post-annealing re-heat stages. The system consists of a sensor and a processor display unit. It provides precise non-contact temperature measurement, using the convective heat flow principle, from 10 to 300°C on wires and cables with diameters ranging from 0.2 to 7mm. The measurement is independent of influencing factors such as colour, emission, speed, material or surface. The measuring head is slotted, allowing the wire to be changed without interruption.
