Niehoff pointing to the future Maschinenfabrik Niehoff has developed production equipment which reliably covers most steps of automotive, data, LAN and special cables manufacturing. An outstanding example are the BMV type high-speed braiding machines which are usually used to apply a braided shield of fine and superfine wires to data cables, coaxial cables and conductor ropes. The machines are designed for 12, 16 and 24 braiding bobbins respec- tively and can process bare or coated copper wire, aluminium wire and stainless steel wire with diameters ranging from 0.05-0.3mm, as well as artificial yarn and fibres. Among the characteristics is an infinite variable electronic control of the line speed and the braiding pitch, and an automatic central lubrication system. Optionally a central taping device can be added for the application of metallic, plastic or fabric tape on the cable core after braiding. Another option is an integrated low wire on bobbin detection device which automatically stops the machine before a bobbin gets empty. There are also motor-driven take-ups and pay-offs for space- saving installation integrated in the frame of the machine. For reels with a flange diameter bigger than 1,000mm, the machines can be equipped with separate motor driven take-ups and pay-offs. The BMV machines can unfold their full potential when using the semi- automatic and automatic ‘Niehoff winding machines system Hacoba’, which transfer wire from larger packages of single and multi-wire spools onto the smaller braiding bobbins. The electrostatic powder coating machines are designed for an absolutely dust-free and fine adjustable powdering of cables and wires from 1-150mm diameter at any speed. The product is evenly covered with powder all around the circumference. The electrostatic charging not only generates a very even distribution of the powder on the surface, but also a strong adhesion on the product. A special and maintenance-free filter system provides a dust-free operation. The machine can be adapted to all product diameters, line speeds and costumers’ needs, and a reproducible and even powdering at different line speeds and diameters is achieved by the possibility to adjust the powder quantity, dust cloud speed and electrostatic height. Machines can be provided with one, two or three electrostatic powder guns, depending on the speed and product to be powdered.
