More visitors flocked to the Maillefer stand

Maillefer, Switzerland, has reported a successful Interwire 2007 show, with more visitors to the company’s stand than in the previous two shows. Noticeable interest was expressed in the company’s energy, telecom and fibre optics products. Energy applications included the latest designs from building, automotive to high speed MV cable manufacturing and optimum curing for CV lines. The CV lines balance speed and layout length for high productivity of quality cables of up to 500kV. A THX 70/130 crosshead was also on display. In the field of fibre optic cable equipment, OEL lines are used throughout every step of loose tube fibre optic cable production. The OEL 40, 41, 70 and 60 lines represent, respectively, solutions for tight buffering, secondary coating, SZ stranding and jacketing. Maillefer’s telecom products range from voice, data and LAN, to micro-coax, mini-coax, CATV, drop & trunk, and large RF coax. The latest developments are found in LAN and micro-coax cable. For micro-wires used in hand-held devices, overall diameters are shrinking down to the order of a tenth of a millimetre for solid insulation. Physically foamed dual layer constructions are slightly larger. Interwire also gave Maillefer the opportunity to confirm developments in North America. The US team, headed by Sharon Nathaniel and Jon Williams, is in the process of strengthening services by increasing the number of technicians supporting US and Canadian customers. This newly created committee now combines the former Infrastructure and Architecture committees while adding an economics dimension that includes capital and operating expenditure models for active and passive technology, case studies and the evolution of FTTH technology deployment.
