LDPE unit for Abu Dhabi Borealis and Borouge, a joint venture between Borealis and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, has announced the potential development of a LDPE (low density polyethylene) unit in Abu Dhabi to produce high performance material for cable andwire applications. By the end of 2014, the project will add approximately 2.5 million tons per year of capacity to Borouge’s polyolefin operations in AbuDhabi. This substantial capacity investment, in addition to Borealis’350,000 t/y LDPE plant in Stenungsund, Sweden (due for completion in 2009) confirms a long-term commitment to the requirements of the global wire and cable industry.
