Extruding – machinery & equipment

I s it possible to mass-produce custom work? If it were, extrusion would be the process for the job. So adaptable that it can be operated hot, warm, or cold, an extruder accepts a variety of materials and delivers high yields at top speeds. At the same time, it shapes a product perfectly conformed to the requirements of the most demanding customer – while imparting a surface finish reminiscent of the days of pumice and elbow-grease. Extrusion acquires its accommodating ways from the suppliers of equipment – complete lines for insulation and sheathing down to cooling troughs and barrels – who know that responsible troubleshooting begins long before the trouble does. They also know that the choice between, say, gas injection and dry/liquid injection for XLPE insulation can have important consequences for the productivity of a wire and cable plant. A selection of the products and services of these professionals is found here. Photo courtesy of Teknor Apex Company 62 EuroWire – January 2010
