Individual cable carrier system for hydropower plant

An international team at Kabelschlepp France has implemented a robust cable carrier system for the safety valve at the Châteauneuf du Rhône hydroelectric power plant in the South of France. The purpose of the valve, which moves across the entire power plant, is to prevent over-speed of the turbines. In an emergency, a heavy barrier is used to block the ingress of water. The extreme conditions at the site required a robust design. Installed on the retaining dam, the cable carrier system is exposed to high winds, and optimum functioning has to be ensured even at temperatures below freezing in winter. In addition to the RSC MC0950 cable carrier, the solution included all required cables, the guide channel, floating TKFMD drivers including driver arm, the substructure/wall brackets and the roof system.
